Team folds due to exodus (28th September)

The sad news that the U16's squad has folded was announced this week by manager Jim Brosnahan. Surprisingly, several players decided to join other teams for the last season of junior football. It was then impossible to replace players due to short supply, as most players with ability at this age already play for teams.

The team did not have enough players at the start of the season, with the team playing with less than 11 players for the first couple of matches. The last game, a defeat against Juno, saw a extremely spirited performance despite only having ten men. With no score at half time the team were not able to maintain the performance for the second half as the players tired.

I'm sure that everyone passes on their thanks to Jim for all the effort he has put into the team over many seasons. As all former managers will know, he will now have a lot more time on his hands. Most times he will miss running a team, but occasionally he will be glad of the spare time.

Manager searches for players (13th September)

The manager of the U16's is in a desperate search for players as he is down to the bare 11 squad. If you wish to join the team please contact the manager, Jim Brosnahan as soon as possible. You may have played for someone else or may be looking for a team for the first time, the door is open for anyone to join in the training each week with view to increasing the squad size. The best players will always be chosen based on ability. So if you were no older than 15 on the 1st September , you are eligible to join the squad. Contact Jim on  0161 283 3374  /  07713 089 461 or Click Here to email the web manager.

Records put straight (posted 19th November)

A mistake has been corrected regarding goals scored for the last game against New Mills. Dominic Kirby was not the scorer as published. It was Tom Price. Apologies to him and the records have been corrected.

Preparations in full swing (posted 9th June)

With the weekend tournament at Spurley Hey to play in, the squad has been preparing in advance. A good turn out at training has been the usual bonus with the team obviously looking forward to the season ahead. The well organised sessions are good for the players, with Jim and Max having another training assistant to ensure the best preparation possible.

Training for next winter (posted 14th May)

Training has been secured for next winter. The squad will be training at Cheadle Hulme High School on Thursdays from 7pm - 8pm. This is a bigger facility than the current one and it is more suitable for the number of players, even sharing with the under 16's will be possible, which is what we intend to do. It also has the advantage of being more local for most of the players.
