Under 14's Match Reports Under 14’s Match report 23 Sep. 07 Ladybridge 2 High Lane 1
On only their second home game of the season, Ladybridge took on the newly promoted High Lane .
The game kicked off and the lads were in complete control in the first ten minutes, the midfield pushing, the defence solid, and the attack strong. Unfortunately High Lane fought back and around the 18 minute mark they took the lead from a long ball by their keeper.
But Ladybridge were not to be kept down so easily and through a well placed ball by George James to Reece Ankers, He controlled and played a neat ball to Danny King, who placed it beyond the reach of the High Lane Goalkeeper.
At half time tactical changes meant that positions were changed and Ladybridge went out with new spirit. Throughout the second half the wide players, Reece Bailey and Josh Palmer were a useful outlet with pace and trickery. Then with ten minutes to go, a switch from the sideline gave the exhausted Reece Ankers a well deserved rest. This brought on Scott Lenehah into midfield so that Aaron O’Gara could go up as a striker with Danny King. This piece of tactical genius paid off when Aaron pounced on a loose ball 20 yards out and released a screamer that flew into the top corner of the net
It was, all in all, a gruelling match and a well deserved win. Man of the match : The team Stockport Metro J.F.L. Cup Semi Final Match – 19/03/07 Ladybridge County 4 Hazel Grove 0 Ladybridge County secured their Cup Final place, beating Hazel Grove with an impressive 4-0 victory. Two first half goals from Danny King and a fantastic strike by Josh Palmer meant Ladybridge met half time with a 3 goal lead. Under increased pressure in the second half, the defence stood strong allowing Arron O’gara to seal victory with an impressive individual goal. Report courtesy of Ian Huxley
Match Report 26th November 2006 Ladybridge 11 Whaley Bridge 0 Excellent football from all the lads with the sun shining and the pitch in good order. LC kicked off and were soon a goal up with a well taken chance from Danny King, after playing a one-two with Reece Ankers just out-side the box. Two minutes later, Danny King again netted to make it 2-0. Josh Palmer then sent in a cross from the left, and saw the ball go in to the far corner of the net to make it 3-0. Arron Ogara then made it made it 4-0, and then Josh Palmer netted his second to give LC a haft-time lead of 5-0. Right from the restart, a well taken goal from Shaun Miley made the score 6-0. Reece Bailey then got onto a loose ball just-out side the box, and hit a great shot for 7-0. George James then got on the score sheet with a long-range shot to make it 8-0. A LC penalty taken by Danny King was then saved well to deny him a hat-trick, but he soon made amends and bagged his 3rd in the game to make it 9-0. Further goals from Reece Ankers and Josh Palmer for his hat-trick completed the rout with a final score of 11-0 Well done to the lads. Man of the match, Danny King. Report courtesy of Dave King Match Report 19th November 2006 Hollingworth 3 Ladybridge 7 The long run up the M67 to Hollingworth must of done the lads good as they played there best football this season by far, and with Hollingworth being a very strong side it was a must win game. Right from the kick off, we attacked the home goal with a great cross from Reece Bailey on the right. Danny King met it with his head to make it 1-0. With the the midfield working well, we were soon 2-0 up with well taken goal from man of the match Josh Palmer. Two minutes later, the ball was fed through to Danny King who ran onto it to make it 3-0. Just before half-time the home-side pulled back a goal to make it 3-1. After the break, LC were on the attack again, and Danny King netted his 3rd of the game and his 13th of the season to make it 4-1. Not to be left out, Reece Ankers ran through the home sides defence for a well taken goal to make it 5-1. Arron Ogara then blasted one in for 6-1, then all the LC players were napping which allowed Hollingworth to score 2 goals in 2 minutes. On the final-whistle, Reece Ankers fired a great shot home to make the final score 7-3. A top game of football from the lads.
Man of the match Josh Palmer, who never stopped
running.
Report courtesy of Dave King U 13’s - Match Report – 24/09/06 Ladybridge County 0 Hollingworth Juniors 2 The torrential rain that started shortly after kick off probably didn’t help but, in a nutshell, Hollingworth scored from their only shot at goal in the first half.(0-1). In the second half we created more chances and as we were starting to show signs of equalising, the visitors scored their second. (0-2). It wasn’t to be our day. This was a reminder that we are now playing in the highest Division of the Stockport Metro’ J.F.L and can expect opposition of this calibre, every match. U 13’s - Match Report – 21/09/06 Ladybridge County 5 Reddish Vulcans 2 This evening the boys illustrated what team spirit, physical effort and determination can achieve. Facing a stiff wind in the first half and a spirited Vulcan team, the Ladybridge defence held out to turn round only 2-1 down. Goalkeeper Matthew Beckwith dived bravely at the feet of the Vulcan forwards and he was unfortunate to concede from a rebound. James Huxley had his best game since joining the club at left back and is coming to grips with a defensive role. At the other end of the pitch Danny King and Reece Ankers again proved what a difficult pair they are to play against. Shaun Miley, Arron O’Gara and George James kept a tight grip on the midfield continually driving the team forward. Josh Palmer linked well with the two strikers. David Maguire, unaccustomed to playing out of goal, played with spirit and Luke Smith never lets his team mates down and held his ground well. Three goals from Arron – one a real cracker – and two from Danny sealed the match for Ladybridge. Reece Bailey ran tirelessly for the team. At the centre of the defence Martin Hunt showed how to read the game, knowing when to clear his lines and when to carry the ball forward – a man of the match performance. Dave would like to thank all parents for their support in what has been a very demanding week. Man of the Match - Martin Hunt Report courtesy of Ian Huxley
U 13’s - Match Report – 19/09/06 Stockport Junior Blues 3 Lady Bridge County 2 Only two days after the marathon match versus Great Moor, and with at least half the team having to go straight from School Football team training (just one of those things), we all hurtled to Brinnington Park. For the 5.45pm kick off. Hopefully, it is becoming a habit, Lady bridge scored first with Danny King controlling the ball, putting it to Reece Ankers to finish the job.(0-1). After 10 minutes of end to end play, Ladybridge won a penalty which unfortunately, Arron Ogara put only two inches past the post, proving he’s only human after all!. Stockport J’ Blues equalised shortly after. (1-1) and then went 2-1 up at half time. In the second half, Reece Ankers repaid Danny King’s earlier generosity, feeding him the ball to slot home and equalise. (2-2). There were some good individual performances but as a whole, the team were showing signs of tiredness and unfortunately this showed with only a few minutes remaining, with Stockport J’ Blues scoring the winning goal. (3-2) Man of the Match: - George James. Report courtesy of Ian Huxley Season 2006-7 U 13’s - Match Report – 17/09/07 Great Moor 4 Ladybridge County 4 All the Players and Supporters from both teams were aware of the importance that this match held. Ladybridge opened the scoring with Reece Bailey crossing the ball into the net, with a little help from the Great Moor Goalkeeper! (0-1). Great Moor equalised with a well struck goal ten minutes later. (1-1). After increased pressure on the Great Moor defence. Reece Ankers fired home, putting Ladybridge back in front. (1-2). Shortly after, Ladybridge were awarded a penalty, following a shoulder charge on Reece Bailey, which Arron Ogara ‘blasted’ home. (1-3). After a mix up in our defence, Great Moor scored shortly before half –time. (2-3). And then equalised 10 minutes into the second half.(3-3). With Ladybridge keeping most of the possession, Josh Palmer beat the Great Moor ‘keeper. (3-4) Every single Ladybridge player fought and fought to keep the three points, however, 30 seconds before the final whistle, the Home Team equalised. (4-4). Gent’s watch for sale!!! Well done to all the team who showed that they are more than a match for anyone. Man of the Match:- The Team. Report Courtesy of Ian Huxley
U 13’s - Match Report – 10/09/07 Ladybridge County 7 Hazel Grove 2 Ladybridge posted their intentions of the coming season. With only a few minutes on the clock, Josh Palmer pushed the ball up-field landing perfectly for the, already running, Danny King, to be unlucky not to beat the Hazel Grove keeper. Ten minutes later during another L’bridge attack, the ball came loose to Arron O’Gara who struck the ball hard and low beating the keeper to his right. (1-0) Unfortunately the summer cobwebs had not cleared as Hazel Grove equalised a few minutes later.(1-1) However, after that ‘wake up call’ another attack on the H.Grove goal resulted inPat’ Fripp, making his debut, controlled the ball nicely to slot the ball home for L’bridge to regain the lead. (2-1). Unfortunately Hazel Grove were not going to give up easily and again equalised within minutes. (2-2) Four minutes before half time, the ball was fed to Danny King who, seeing the keeper off his line lobbed him perfectly for L’bridge to go in at half time 3-2 up. The second half was somewhat more one sided. With the Ladybridge defence strong, the midfield and strikers were able to do what they do best. From a deep corner Danny King rose above all to head L’bridge into a 4-2 lead. Two minutes later, the ball came free from midfield to Danny who duly obliged with one of his fast becoming trademark lobs (5-2). Arron O’Gara showed his strength to win and keep the ball firing home making it 6-2. Not to be left out, Reece Anchers displayed his ball control skills before slotting the ball past the keeper (7-2). With only one minute of play remaining Matt Beckwith, in the Ladybridge goal was forced to make a fantastic save from point blank range, keeping the score-sheet an impressive 7-2. Finally, the increased support from the parents was greatly appreciated by the lads and continued support will be a great encouragement for the hard season ahead. Man of the Match:- Arron O’Gara. Season 2005-2006 Sunday 26th March (Away versus Cheadle Heath Nomads) Cheadle Heath Nomads 1 Ladybridge County 1 They say football is a game of two halves and this game demonstrated that, as Nomads ran us ragged for most of the first half. With most of the LC players still asleep due to missing the hour time change, the home side went a goal up with a well taken goal just before the break. After a good talking to at half-time, we came back onto the field of play looking to win this game right from the restart. Callum Moony, Arron Ogara and Matt Barnsley all started to play their game in the midfield. Callum Moony started to run rings around the Nomads players, with brilliant balls though their defence. With Danny King more in the game, we soon got on level terms with a Callum Moony cross from the left. Danny King met it and made no mistake by drilling the ball into the net. At a goal each, it was game on and LC attacked the Nomads goal. Callum Moony went close and Danny King hit a great shot from 6 yards out, only to see it go inches over the bar. The ball would not go in, but with the game being played on the bigger senior pitch, both teams came off the park shattered at full time. Final score 1-1. A well earned point for L.C, Man of the match: Callum Moony Big game next weekend against unbeaten Spurley Hey (away). (Info courtesy of Dave King)
Sunday 19th March (Home versus Mountfield) Ladybridge County 4 Mountfield 0 Great game of football this weekend saw us out-play the away side thoughout the match. Eddy Clegg and Danny King were the key players in the game as they ran Mountfields defence ragged. Danny King netted twice in the first half and Callum Mooney and Eddy Clegg hit the wood-work. It could of been a higher score going into half time but surprisingly it was only a two goal lead. In the second half, Arron Ogara, Danny King, Eddy Clegg and Callum Mooney all went close to scoring, but some good goalkeeping from the away keeper kept the score down. It wasn't long before Danny King ran on to a ball to complete his hat-trick and 21st league goal of the season with a great goal. With more outstanding football from the lads, Eddy Clegg played a 1-2 with Danny King and he then ran onto the ball just outside the box and hit a great shot to make it 4-0.(Info courtesy of Dave King) Man of the match: Eddy Clegg.
Sunday 5th March (Away versus Apollo) Apollo 4 Ladybridge County 1 This was a bad day for the lads losing 4-1 to the home-side. Straight from the kick off we attacked their goal with Eddy Clegg clear on goal twice, with the second chance shot straight at the Apollo keeper. Then, 15mins into the game Apollo are awarded a penalty with nobody sure what it was for. We then had three or four chances to level it, but on the break and against the run of play, Apollo made it 2-0 just before half-time. The second half the same as the first, with us going close early on. Then, again against the run of play the home side went 3-0 up. The heads of the LC players then fell but the lads battled on, and Danny King with 10mins to scored a quality goal to pull one back and give LC some hope. Apollo then went down the other end to net again, running out winners of the game 4-1. Back to the drawing-board on next training night. (Info courtesy of Dave King) Man of the match: James Huxley.
Sunday 19th February (Away) versus Mountfield Rovers Mountfield Rovers 0 Ladybridge County 3 The U12s made it 4 wins in 4 with 12 points pushing us up the league to 3rd spot. It's looking very good for us in the promotion race with games in hand over the leagues top 4. This week saw us away to Mountfield, and right from the kick off we proved to much for Mountfield. In the first 5 minutes we could have been 6 up with shots from Danny King and Arron Ogara bringing the best out of the home team keeper. The only shot on goal from Mountfield forced great save from Louis Chapman, pushing the ball round the post. Martin Hunt found Arron Ogara on the half way line, who ran on right through the home-side defence and smashed the ball home from 20 yards into the top corner to make it 1-0. Two minutes later, Danny King ran on to a great through ball from Chris Michaels and calmly slotted the ball in the corner of the net to make it 2-0. After the break we are well on top pushing the ball around the park like professionals. We were than awarded one of many free-kicks just out-side the box. A great goal came from Arron Ogara, bending the ball around the Mountfield wall to calm his second goal of the game with his 10th of the season to make it 3-0 and all over. Outstanding football. Man of the match: Arron Ogara. No game on Sunday 26th Feb. This is due to Apollo having a cup-game. (Info courtesy of Dave King)
Sunday 12th January (Away) versus Cherry Tree Celtic Cherry Tree Celtic 0 Ladybridge County 2 With only 10 lads we played our football at top level right from the kick off. With our first attack, Danny Kings over-head kick was cleared off the line. 15 mins into the game we could have been 6 up with long range shooting from Arron Ogara and Shaun Miley and the Cherry Tree keeper playing his heart out. Then, just before half time, Callum Mooney hammered home from the edge of the box after some great build up play to go 1-0 up. The second-half was the same as the first with us on top. Danny King was one on one with there keeper, only to see his shot hit the woodwork. 2 mins later, Arron Ogara shot with their keeper down to save it, but he could only push the ball into the path of Danny king to claim his 17th of the season. A result of 2-0 with a great game. Man of the match Danny king. (Info courtesy of Dave King)
Sunday 22nd January (Home) versus Bollington With the team on a roll they soon got into the game with 2 goals from Arron Ogare and 1 from Danny King winning the game 3-0. (Info courtesy of Dave King)
Sunday 15th January (Home) versus Cheadle & Gatley The game resulted in a 8-1 win, with goals from Danny King (3), Arron Ogare (2) Eddy Luke(1) and Cell (1). Outstanding football from the lads. (Info courtesy of Dave King) |
